Nomadic Meat respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. If you're located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What Data We Collect

For Providers (Farms, Butchers, Healthcare Professionals):

  • Business contact information (name, email, phone, address)
  • Business details (services offered, specialties, location)
  • Payment information only for paid subscriptions (processed securely through our payment processor)
  • Analytics data (listing views, engagement metrics)
  • Email addresses collected through your listing (you own this data)

For Carnivores (Free Users):

  • Email address (if you create an account)
  • Favorites and notes you create
  • Search and browsing activity on the platform

How We Use Your Data

We use your data for one purpose only: to operate the Nomadic Meat directory and connect providers with carnivores.

Specifically:

  • Display your business listing to carnivores searching our directory
  • Process your subscription payments
  • Send you account-related emails (receipts, renewals, platform updates)
  • Provide you with analytics about your listing performance
  • Enable carnivores to save favorites and organize their provider lists

We do NOT:

  • Sell your data to anyone
  • Share your data with advertisers
  • Use your data for marketing purposes beyond our own platform
  • Track you across other websites

Your GDPR Rights

You have the right to:

Access Your Data: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide it in a readable format within 30 days.
Correct Your Data: Update any incorrect or incomplete information in your account at any time.
Delete Your Data: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data. We'll remove everything within 30 days except what we're legally required to retain for accounting purposes.
Export Your Data: Download your data in a portable format (CSV/JSON) that you can use elsewhere. This includes any email addresses you've collected through your listing.
Restrict Processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data while you verify its accuracy or contest our use.
Object to Processing: Object to our use of your data. If you're a provider, this would mean closing your account since we need your data to operate your listing.
Withdraw Consent: If you gave us consent for something specific (like marketing emails), you can withdraw it anytime.

How to Exercise Your Rights

Contact Us Here with your request. Include:

  • Your name and email address associated with your account
  • Which right you're exercising
  • Any specific details about your request

We'll respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Active Accounts: We keep your data as long as your account is active.

Deleted Provider Accounts:

  • Listing data retained for 90 days in case you return
  • Payment records retained for 7 years (legal requirement)
  • Everything else deleted after 90 days

Inactive Carnivore Accounts: Deleted after 2 years of no activity, with a reminder email before deletion.

Data Security

We protect your data with:

  • Encrypted connections (SSL/TLS)
  • Secure payment processing (we never store credit card numbers)
  • Regular security audits
  • Limited employee access to personal data
  • Secure backup systems

International Data Transfers

Nomadic Meat operates from the United States. If you're in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers.

Children's Privacy

Our platform is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We'll notify you of any material changes to this policy by email and by posting a notice on our website at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Supervisory Authority

If you're in the EEA/UK/Switzerland and believe we've mishandled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
